Inclusive Local Creative TourismAbstract
This paper explores the intersection of local creative event, public space, and the growth of the creative economy and tourism in Jakarta. Drawing from insights presented in the 9th Webinar Bicara Kota 2024 by Office of Public Works, Human Settlements and Spatial Planning of Jakarta (DCKTRP DKI JAKATA), this study analyzes the role of local creative events in enhancing economic participation, tourism, and inclusive urban culture. With contributions from stakeholders in government, entrepreneurship, and event organizing, the discussion highlighted Jakarta's evolving landscape of creative markets and the regulatory and experiential frameworks supporting them. Employing a qualitative methodology with inductive thematic analysis, this research synthesizes webinar discourse and supporting literature to extract patterns in policy, design practices, and micro-entrepreneurial experiences, and addresses a gap in the literature on how experience design in public urban events contributes to both Jakarta’s creative economic and tourism growth, also inclusive city-making. The paper argues that intentional experience design within public space-based events can strengthen community engagement, empower local micro-enterprises, and foster sustainable tourism. Recommendations are offered for policymakers, event planners, and MSME to align creative event strategies with broader economic and cultural goals
